I know where my stop is, my hand just will not do it
I set the level in advance and then, when price actually gets there, it turns into "let me give it a bit more room". I have lost count of how many times that doubled the damage.
I do not think I break the rule because I do not know it. I break it because following it means admitting I was wrong in that moment. How did you all get past this?

I do not treat it as a hand problem. It is a judgement problem — there is still a decision left to make. If there is room to think "should I sell or not" when price arrives, I will not sell. Every time. So I place the order when I enter, not when price arrives. I remove the opportunity to decide. Trying to win it with willpower is a fight you lose.

Same conclusion from a slightly different angle. Most of the time the stop does not get taken because the **size** is wrong. If cutting hurts, of course your hand freezes. I decide the amount I am willing to lose being wrong once, then work backwards to position size. Do it in the other order and you will have this argument with yourself every single trade.

I am in exactly that state right now, so I am reading carefully. So placing the order up front is really about not having to decide in the moment — that makes sense.

Worth saying that everyone feels this, which is exactly why the levels work. A lot of people are frozen at the same price. That is what makes those prices reactive in the first place.
