Volume Profile

NeutralReliability: High

Also called · POC, high-volume node

Price areas where a lot of trading happened. They often act as support and resistance.

Volume Profile shape
The skeleton with the noise removed. Real charts are messier.

How to spot it

  • Price levels where volume concentrated
  • Areas price sat in for a long time before a sharp move

Why this shape forms

It turns volume sideways to show how much traded at each price. Prices that traded heavily hold positions and references.

Where it actually means something

The result changes completely with the range you select. Decide first whether you are studying the recent leg or the whole history.

What else to check

Heavy nodes tend to stall price on the way back; empty ones get crossed quickly. Read both properties together.

This means you're wrong

If price passes through the area on volume, treat that supply as absorbed.

The mistake beginners make

Forgetting that it is read on the price axis, not the time axis.

Easy to confuse with

Assuming a thick node is always resistance is wrong. Once it is cleared it becomes support of the same thickness.
