Reversal

Triple Bottom

BullishReliability: Medium

Also called · three touches, triple base

Price holds three times at the same level. Supply is absorbed more convincingly than in a double bottom.

Triple Bottom shape
The skeleton with the noise removed. Real charts are messier.

How to spot it

  • The three lows are close to horizontal
  • More touches means more force behind the eventual breakout

Why this shape forms

Three knocks at the same floor and three rejections. One more confirmation than a double bottom, so the support has thicker evidence behind it.

Where it actually means something

It forms while a long decline is basing out. The cost is time: waiting for a third touch means you often miss the first leg up.

What else to check

Look for a close above the line joining the three highs, with volume. Better still is watching that line flip to support afterwards.

This means you're wrong

Losing the third low. Support that has been tested repeatedly tends to break hard.

The mistake beginners make

Reading "it held three times, so it's safe". It can equally mean buying is exhausted.

Easy to confuse with

Hard to separate from a range. If the top keeps capping it, call it a range. If the lows hold while the highs creep up, it leans triple bottom.
